ABOUT CHLORELLA, A POWERFUL MEDICINAL GREEN ALGAE
Chlorella is a microscopic (of 2 to 10 µm diameter) single celled green micro algae that has existed on the planet for over 2.5 billion years!
Having survived in exactly the same form since the pre-Cambrian period, this micro-algae owes its extraordinary survival to two highly unusual features: its unique cell wall and its astonishing capacity of reproduction.
During approximately the first billion years of the earth's existence, deadly gases such as ammonia, methane and carbon dioxide made its atmosphere heavy. In the evolution of Earth, primitive green plant life such as Chlorella had the role to filter out these deadly elements, to eventually change the earth's environment to one capable of supporting flora (plants) and fauna (animals).
Each Chlorella cell is complete, and Chlorella was the first cell form to contain a true nucleus within its nuclear envelope. The cell walls serve to confine and defend the Chlorella cell unit, making Chlorella very resistant to changes in environmental conditions, as well as to attacks by other organisms.
Chlorella contains the highest known source of chlorophyll of any plant. Chlorella means green from "chlor" and small from "ella".
This edible medicinal micro alga was first discovered in the late 1800's by a Dutch biologist, Beyerinck. For over fifty years thousands of scientific articles from universities, medical institutions and scientists have been published about Chlorella and the virtues of this medicinal green algae, as well as numerous certifications such as FDA's, ISO 9002, FGMP's and CASJAS'.
No other algae has generated as much scientific and medical interest as Chlorella!!
Aside from being the subject of much medical research in the USA, Japan, USSR, Germany, France, England and Israel, Chlorella has been researched by the Rockefeller Foundation, the Carnegie Institute, the Pasteur Institute and NASA. As a matter of fact, because Chlorella is so complete, one could survive with it for a substantial period of time, according to the researchers from NASA who have investigated this particularity for astronauts traveling into space.
Because Chlorella has been found to contain over 50% protein, German scientists during World Wars I and II studied it very closely as a possible way to alleviate food shortages. Then during the 1950's, The Carnegie Institute in Washington took up the study where the German scientists had left off and found a way to grow Chlorella commercially. They thought Chlorella could help bring a solution to the world hunger.
During the postwar food shortage in Japan, the Japanese government sponsored Dr. Tamiya to harvest and develop Chlorella commercially and to make one of the finest health foods in the world.
The scientists' interest resided essentially in the discovery that Chlorella, apart from its high protein and chlorophyll content, also includes an astonishing range of nutrients such as vitamins, amino acids, minerals, nucleic acids, CGF, enzymes, dietary fiber and other nutrients essential to human nutrition.
Chlorella is an entirely natural food combining both nutritional and pharmaceutical qualities, completely bio-available thanks to the perfect synergy of its structure.
Its composition makes Chlorella the Queen of Nutraceuticals, and the most powerful whole food on the planet. In fact, as a perfect food Chlorella has no peers.
Associated as a promoter of good health Chlorella would also exerts anti-viral and anti-cancer properties. Its extract, the mysterious Chlorella Growth Factor (C.G.F.) allows each Chlorella cell to multiply into four new cells every 20 to 24 hours, a mechanism called photosynthesis. Chlorella's billion years of unchanged survival to modern times is a testimonial to its inherent genetic stability, to its resistance to bacteria and pollution, and to its healing DNA repair mechanisms (3).
However, its tough outer cell remained indigestible until the 1970's. Chlorella became available to mankind as a food when a patented procedure solved the digestibility problem by breaking down the Chlorella cell walls.
From numerous Japanese studies showing a longer life expectancy when animals are fed with Chlorella - an average extension of almost two years compared to the average animal life span! - as well as from the growing concerns of industrial and environmental pollution, Japan became the largest consumer of Chlorella, as a medicinal wholefood, with an estimated 10 million users. Referred to more as a functional food rather than as a nutritional & health food supplement, Chlorella is more popular in Japan than vitamin C.
NASA once also expressed interest in growing Chlorella as one of the first wholefoods on the space station when completed.
In Japan, many medical doctors have supplemented diets of hospitalized patients with Chlorella for its wealth of nutritional and health benefits and to speed their recovery.
Unlike Japan or the rest of the Orient, where algae have been used for centuries, Chlorella's popularity in the West is only recent and remain to be much more widely experienced because of its astounding healing, nutritional, detoxifying, anti-inflammatory and nutritive properties.
Once you discover the profound health and nutritional benefits of Chlorella and make it become part of your household protocol, you will find a two-billion-year old friend backed-up with decades of scientific studies and testimonials.
After taking the first step to energize your life and after feeling positive changes, unlike other herbs or fads that are temporary, Chlorella will become a part of your daily food regimen.
